Can I use the assessment of my neighbors' properties to prove that my assessment is wrong?
No. In order to 'Grieve' your assessment, you must provide proof of the value of your property. You cannot make the assumption that your neighbors' assessments are correct. They may not be correct. The best proof of value of your property is a recent appraisal. In lieu of a recent appraisal, you need to research recent comparable sales of like properties in your area. The Assessor's Office provides sales books for your convenience.
